Sprinkle a little love.....

Hi, I am Sofia. I am Camilla's big sister. We are Cookie Chefs. Today we went to Sprinkles Cupcakes. We have heard that these cupcakes and boy, were they ever.
Camilla ordered the Coconut Chocolate and I ordered the Dark Chocolate. We drank a delicious cold milk with it and my Mom had some eco-farmed coffee.
They were really delicious, moist and fluffy.
It had an excellent chocolate taste. We will certainly be back. It's easy to find Sprinkles Cupcakes: Just go to Highland Village and park in front. They are located on the Westheimer Side, next to Papersource, which is another great place to blog about, but they have no cupcakes there. :( . You can find Sprinkles Cupcakes at:

4101 Westheimer Rd.
Houston, 1 mile east of the Galleria

Happy Cupcaking !

Texas Honey !

We love local and seasonal foods and nothing beats a sweet touch like Texas Honey ! Sofia recently added it to toast that had Nutella on it. " Too Sweet" said Camilla. So, we don't really recommend it but as always, The Cookie Chefs love experimenting with all things sweet.
Bon Apetit !

4th of July Apple Pie

The all American tradition of having a homemade apple pie was present at the Zapatero home. Sofia and Camilla experienced making their first apple pie from scratch. We used organic pink lady apples, organic flour and sugar. Sofia says: " It wasn't hard but it wasn't easy either. I like the kneading part though." We learned a new secret for keeping the crust prtotected while baking by wrapping aluminum foil around the crust. We used a recipe from the Food Network from the FoodNation Show with Bobby Flay. You can find the link here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/bobby-flay/apple-pie-recipe/index.html

Bon Apetit and Happy 4th of July! Sofia and Camilla Zapatero.

Cookie Chefs Visit Crave Cupcakes- Uptown Park

Today the cookie chefs Sofia and Camilla Zapatero went to Crave Cupcakes in Uptown Park to sample some of 4th of July specials. Here Sofia will give you an explanation of what cupcakes they enjoyed today:

( Age 6) Sofia: I had a dark chocolate cupcake. The little circle on the top was the finishing touch of the cupcake and it had a cupcaker mixer on it. The cupcake had brown sprinkles and chocolate frosting on top. Now I am going to tell you how it tasted; It tasted really chocolatey and the frosting was super good. I really enjoyed it. It was very good with the cold glass of milk. It tasted like farm milk from cows. It was a really nice and they recycle the bottle which is really great. You need to recycle.

(Age 4) Camilla: My cupcake was coconut and I loved it so much. It was my favorite and I like the top on it. It was softy and chewy. That's it. I like it cuz it was sweet. Sofia and Camilla shared with their Mom, Jessica and she loved both of them. She had honey roasted pecan flavored coffee. Mommy said, It is the best cupcake place ever !!

And the cookie chefs chronicles begin.....

April 2010
In the world of kids, mine our certified cookie fiends. They live for cookies, always asking for them, in every shape, form and flavor.  My little one's third word after dada was 'cookie'. So I found it appropriate to share my journey through cookie land with two little girls that love to bake. I have created a cookie chronicle where Sofia, 6, Camilla 4, make cookies, store bought mixes and from scratch. Keep posted for our review from the Cookie Chefs  as they review the recipes from ease of preparation and flavor.

Today we tried Betty Crocker Peanut Butter. With about 3 ingredients, it was pretty easy to mix and assemble. Using the fork to flatten and make the criss cross design worked on the motor skills too.
On a scale of 1 to 5 how easy was it to make the cookies: 5
Number of Ingredients: 3, water, vegetable oil and 1 egg.

Reviews from Chef Sofia: Delicious, just right amount of peanut butter
Reviews from Chef Camilla: Yummy
